A New Operations Centre for Public Safety

The new Modena Local Police Operations Centre has been designed to strengthen coordination across the local area, improve emergency management and enhance the monitoring of the city’s video surveillance systems.

Interconnection with other operations centres and law enforcement agencies plays a key role in promoting information sharing and faster response times. The technological upgrade is accompanied by a reorganisation of the working areas, designed to provide operators with more functional and ergonomic working conditions.

Alongside the main operations centre, the new facility also includes a dedicated Municipal Emergency Operations Centre (COC) for emergency management and Civil Protection coordination.

Control Room and COC Furniture Designed and Manufactured by Bosco for Verbatel

For the new Modena Operations Centre, Verbatel commissioned Bosco to design and manufacture the technical furniture for the facility’s operational areas, delivering customised solutions that combine functionality, technology and ergonomics in a demanding public safety environment.

The Main Control Room: Video Wall and 2000S Control Consoles

The heart of the project is the main Control Room, organised around a large 1000 Base video wall system featuring 12 55-inch monitors. The video wall enables operators to view and share the information required for monitoring, coordination and operational decision-making.

Facing the video wall are four 2000S control consoles, configured to meet different operational and supervisory requirements. Two consoles accommodate two operators each, while the other two are compact, standalone workstations dedicated to supervision.

Each console is equipped with three monitors mounted on adjustable monitor arms, allowing operators to customise screen height and tilt to suit their individual needs. This ergonomic solution helps improve comfort during extended shifts and supports a more efficient working environment.

The Meeting Room: Integrated Technology and Distinctive Design

The project also includes the Meeting Room, a dedicated space for meetings, information sharing and operational coordination.

This room also features a 1000 Base video wall system, equipped with four 55-inch monitors to support presentations, visualisation and collaborative discussions.

The focal point of the room is a large Tekno series meeting table, designed to combine a striking visual presence with functionality. Integrated into the table is a next-generation interactive whiteboard supplied by Bosco, enabling direct interaction with the video wall and making it easier to manage content and share information during meetings.

Integrating technology directly into the furniture helps keep the room organised and functional while providing an advanced tool for collaborative work.

Blue as a Distinctive Design Feature

Another defining feature of the project is the colour scheme. The furniture has been finished in electric blue, a colour strongly associated with the visual identity of Italian police operations centres.

This choice gives the rooms a distinctive institutional character while maintaining a consistent design throughout the main Control Room and the Meeting Room.
